HUAWEI Ascend G6

The Huawei Ascend G6 is one of the newer models in the constellation of beautifully designed phones that have been coming to us lately from Huawei. We recently wrote about the Ascend P7 model, which should compete with the largest and most powerful smartphones, but the Ascend G6 does not have that intention. This is a much more modest device, which is stylistically reminiscent of the now legendary Ascend P6 , to which Huawei owes its gratitude for putting them on the air as a manufacturer that takes care of the appearance of its phones.

Huawei Ascend G6 design

The Chinese company decided that this model also has flat surfaces, which are completely covered with black or white paint. As with the aforementioned Ascend P7 leader, here too the edges are covered with a metallic surface that breaks the monotony and which irresistibly adjusts to the iPhone. The phone has gently rounded top and bottom edges, which makes it extra likable and easier to use.

On the side, next to each other, as expected, are the main button and the volume control. In essence, the Ascend G6 is a phone of very good proportions. With less than 8mm at the waist, it is clear that this is a very thin phone. As a rule, such “skinny people” behave nicely and easily, and not to mention the pleasant impression they leave on the eye of the observer.

Also, with only 114g, this is one of the lightest phones that are close to the 5 inch limit. The Ascend G6 has exactly 4.5. I think that the Ascend G6 has an advantage in weight compared to some similar models of the main competitors, that is, that it is lighter than them, so if that is important to you, the Ascend G6 is here.

Huawei Ascend G6 screen

Here, the screen is made on the principle “this is quite enough”. And it really is. First of all, the diagonal of 4.5 inches is quite enough to enjoy some multimedia content, without overdoing the size of the phone. On the other hand, the screen has a decent 540 × 960 pixels, which is not something special, but again very acceptable. At 245 pixels per inch, the picture is of quite solid quality, and the phone also has surprisingly good viewing angles.

Maybe the only phone that offers a better screen for the same money is the unusual Moto G , but that’s it. So, the Huawei Ascend G6 is quite decent when it comes to image quality, so you shouldn’t have any major problems here, unless you’re used to 720p and better screens.

Huawei Ascend G6 specification and performance

Beneath the beautiful surface is a quad-core processor from Qualcomm with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, which works in tandem with 1GB of RAM. When it comes to internal memory, Huawei isn’t exactly famous with only 4GB, but luckily they were so reasonable to put a microSD port, where you can insert a memory card up to a maximum of 32GB and solve the problem of lack of “parking” space.

The phone works surprisingly well. To be honest, many have prejudices against somewhat “cheaper” manufacturers. Even if we know that this is a cheap model, then such doubts are usually there. The Huawei Ascend G6 responds well and quickly to commands and if you don’t want to test its ultimate capabilities, the phone won’t annoy you with downtime and slowdowns.

The Huawei Ascend G6 uses a 2,000mAh battery. When it comes to battery life, it is difficult to say exactly how long it lasts because almost no user uses the phone in the same way. Still, the Huawei Ascend G6 in full power mode (i.e., listening to music and watching videos, using social networks, opening various apps, typing and texting, and of course making phone calls) survives almost all day. Of course, with more moderate (probably more frequent) use, it will easily last a day.

The phone runs on Jelly Bean Android OS. The interface is designed to be primarily easy to use. In addition, it visually looks nice and clear, so it is perfect for beginners or those who do not like to bother too much with detours in order to reach a function.

Huawei Ascend G6 camera

The G6 uses Sony’s 8MP camera, which is capable of recording full HD videos. The camera is located in the very corner, where your fingers usually move when you hold the phone in a horizontal position, so you can often take a picture of your own index finger until you get used to it. The camera, like the phone itself, is a pleasant surprise. The photos are very good. Ok, they’re not perfect, but keep in mind how much the Huawei Ascend G6 costs. The forest in the photos is small, but all within the “allowed” limits. There is also an HDR mode, for all those who want shots with more details. The front camera has a great 5MP and does its job quite well.

Huawei Ascend G6 conclusion

The Huawei Ascend G6 brings competition into the lower price segment. It is clear that its main competitor is the Moto G (see a comparative overview of the two models HERE ), but the model with the Huawei label brings more freshness in the air. Advanced design, practical dimensions and affordable price are the trump cards of this phone. Of course, the Huawei Ascend G6 also has flaws, but it’s hard to talk about them since the phone is quite affordable, so many of them can be forgiven.
