Samsung recently introduced a new series of tablets. Two more tablets were found under the Galaxy name. These are the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 models. It didn’t seem to be enough for this manufacturer to have a really large number of devices on offer, but it brought new players to the already overcrowded terrain of 8-inch and 10-inch tablets. However, the desire for the offer to be as complete as possible is stronger than anything. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 isn’t just any tablet after all, but one of the best that Samsung has ever made. You’ll probably be wondering what the difference is this compared to the TabPro series. Well, there are few things that separate them, but they are AMOLED instead of LCD screens, as well as the lack of an S Pen pen. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 brings a refreshed and far more advanced design than before, as well as some more advanced options, so it imposes itself as a solution in the smaller tablet segment if you don’t need a pen, but the flawless design is.

You will recognize this tablet by its golden edges, which the designers have avoided so far, but which does not look bad at all. Personally, I had prejudices towards this color, but they fell into the water, because in combination with Samsung’s standard plastic, the gold edges look very advanced in terms of design. However, that is not the first thing you will notice on this tablet, but the incredible thinness that adorns it. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has only 6.6mm at the waist. It’s even better than some phones. In particular, the iPhone 5S has even 1mm more, which is quite a difference in the world of advanced design.

Samsung tightened its stomach, but kept the plastic, which could not be solved. Apart from the mentioned things, the TabPro series differs from the series to which this tablet belongs also by the fact that it has an imitation skin on the back, and the Tab S models do not. Instead, there’s a perforated design with the Galaxy S5 and two smaller circles that should break the monotony, but in my opinion they didn’t work out.

The quality of workmanship is at a high level, as expected. In the upright position you will see a recognizable center button and two capacitive ones around it.

The tablet is thin, but it is somehow wide. The edges around the screen, which are slightly wider, probably contribute to that impression, but that can in no way diminish the quality and feel of using this tablet. Still, many will still prefer the metal and far more advanced case that the iPad mini 2 has.

The tablet has a really fantastic 8.4-inch screen with 2560 × 1600 pixels, which is 360 pixels per inch, so it leaves the competition in the dust without any problems. The picture is just incredibly good. HD videos look flawless and the enjoyment with this tablet never ends. Admittedly, the colors are a bit overemphasized, but that’s something Samsung sticks to. If you are not a favorite of strong and somewhat unnatural colors, you have settings that can alleviate this desire to make everything bright and fabulous. The screen copes quite well with daylight, although it has a little reflection in it, but it is enough to increase the lighting and the matter is resolved. Viewing angles won’t give you any problems so feel free to invite the company to watch the movie.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 specification and performance
Like some new devices ( Galaxy K Zoom for example), the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has a combination of processors. The tablet is powered by two quad-core processors at 1.9 and 1.3GHz. The reason for this distribution of strong forces is to balance energy consumption with efficient operation. Speaking of efficient work, I think it is enough to say that the tablet has as much as 3GB of RAM, so any further comment is superfluous. That’s more RAM than the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 has collected .

When it comes to memory, it ranges from the basic 16GB, of which just over 11GB is available. If you want to turn your tablet into a portable hard drive, then simply buy the largest memory card you can find, because the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 supports memory expansion up to 128GB. Samsung also produces a version with 32GB of internal memory, which is not unnecessarily large, because all system files and applications go there, so the problem with the lack of memory can be noticed soon.

However, the bigger dilemma is not about the choice between 16 or 32 GB, but whether they opt for the Wi-Fi or 4G model. You will pay more for others, but before you decide to buy this tablet, think about what purpose you need it for, because Wi-Fi connection is not everywhere.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has two speakers, top and bottom (seen in an upright position). When you place the tablet in a horizontal position, you will see that you will often cover them with your hands, which will reduce their efficiency.

The tablet brings a lot of useful options, among which the most important are the infrared transmitter with which you can control other devices and of course the fingerprint reader taken from the Galaxy S5. As with the best phone, it is not very brilliant here either. It’s a big pity because reading fingerprints unlocks the tablet, so until you get used to it, there will be a lot of trouble with it.

When it comes to battery life, the 4,900mAh capacity may not be fantastic for tablets, but in practice it is. The official data basically match the ones we noticed and it is certainly some 8-9 hours of active use, which is quite enough for any normal user, and more than that.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 camera
If you are not impractical and uncomfortable using a photo tablet, then the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 can serve you well. The combination of 8 and 2.1MP is quite promising (in terms of tablets, of course). The daytime photos are quite good, and the ones taken in the dark are not very great, but certainly usable.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Conclusion
Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 7

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is a really great tablet. However, the biggest problem is the models from the same family. If you don’t want or don’t need an S Pen, then this little one has an advantage over some other Samsung models. The Samsung Galaxy TabPro 8.4 has an LCD screen with better image sharpness, while the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 offers more vivid colors. For a good part of the audience, a thin body will be an irresistible bait, but the plastic case will still remain an unsolvable enigma. Also, the edges around the screen could and should have been smaller, but what’s there is.

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is a thin and powerful tablet and you won’t go wrong with its eventual purchase.
