HTC One M9 Review

HTC has introduced the new One. As we expected, the new One M9 is almost identical to its predecessor, which could be seen quite clearly during the premiere, which was held during the day in Barcelona. This 5-inch device with a 1080p screen has not changed when it comes to dimensions. Same thing with BoomSound speakers.

Also, nothing new has been seen when it comes to phone design. The brushed aluminum case is still there. The changes are most noticeable inside the phone itself, where the specifications have been strengthened.

The main propulsion engine is the Snapdragon 810 processor, while the previous UltraPixel camera has been recommissioned from the back to the front of the phone. Its place was taken by a new 20MP camera.

So, the HTC One M9 comes out to customers with the same look, screen, audio capabilities, but also better performance, an improved camera and a larger battery.

HTC One M9 design

The phone therefore retained its distinctive appearance. Given the visual success of the HTC One M8, it was to be expected that this model would follow in the same footsteps.

The difference is that the HTC One M9 is slightly less rounded and slippery from the hand, but at the same time still ergonomically well shaped and adapted for use with one hand. The movement of the main button from the top to the side also greatly contributes to this. Next to it are the volume control buttons.

The surfaces around the screen are still thin and in one piece. Viewed from the side, the HTC One M9 seems a bit reminiscent of the iPhone 6, which in our opinion is quite ok. At the same time, the HTC One M9 is thinner and smaller than the five-seater, so the progress in terms of design can be seen through that.

Thanks to the BoomSound speaker, the phone kept larger areas below and above the screen. At the same time, compared to the aforementioned Apple phone, the new HTC One M9 has sharper corners.

The HTC One M9 comes in silver with gold edges, all silver and all gold.

HTC One M9 camera

The improvement of the camera is more than obvious. From the previous 4, the sensor jumped to 20MP. Initial information indicates that the camera is quite fast.

However, the camera did not win over the visitors of the Congress on the first ball, because the photos kept a lot of noise, which is probably a consequence of smaller pixels. Interestingly, the camera does not have optical stabilization, while the camera sensor is in a somewhat unusual 10: 7 format. Praiseworthy and changeable is the ability to take photos in RAW format and 4K capture.

HTC One M9 software

The new Sense 7 is based on the Android Lollipop OS, but brings nothing revolutionary. BlinkFeed is still the “collector” of all the necessary information.

Applications and options are expected to be grouped and organized based on your current location, which will be useful to some, while others will wonder if they can preserve their privacy in any way. There is also a large selection of themes, which completely change the look of the interface.

The famous HTC Zoe photo processing software has been improved, primarily through a lot of new visual effects.

HTC One M9 specification

The new HTC runs the aforementioned Snapdragon octa-core processor at a total of 2.5GHz (in fact, these are two quad-core processors at 1.5 and 2GHz, respectively). It is a 64-bit processor, which should bring better performance and greater energy savings.

3GB of RAM should be enough for all the needs of future users, as well as a 2,840mAh battery. The internal memory is 32GB and can be expanded to a fantastic 128GB via a microSD card. Also, users get 21GB of online storage space.

HTC One M9 first impressions

HTC One M9 is a phone that comes to Europe at an approximate price of 750 euros. As a contender for the title of the best phone in 2015, the HTC One M9 brings improvements in every segment, but not to the extent that the public might have hoped.

The camera, which was supposed to be the main trump card, does not seem to give the expected results. The design has remained the same, but that may not be a flaw considering how the HTC One M8 looks. All in all, the HTC One M9 will be one of the best phones this year and next, and its placement will depend on competitors.
