HTC Desire 601 Review

The HTC Desire 601 is a phone that is slowly but surely filling the middle-class segment, which is becoming dominant in the market. Emerging markets are looking for the cheapest models, but those that do not stand out in price from many of them are also recording an increase in demand.

The HTC Desire 601 is just one of those phones. Moderately strong specification and appearance with a great deal of seriousness and moderation will certainly not win you over at first glance, but people who do not crave glamor and top models might find themselves interested in the HTC Desire 601.

HTC Desire 601 design

The first thing you notice when you pick up the HTC Desire 601 is the somewhat surprising rubberized surface layer, which HTC often applies to better models. And the HTC Desire 601 got that good feature. This surface is soft and pleasant to the touch. Another thing that will give you pleasure is its compact dimensions (HTC Desire 601 has dimensions of 134.5 x 66.7 x 9.9 mm). In practice, this means that the phone is very easy to hold with one hand.

HTC Desire 601 is produced in two classic color combinations: white and black. The black variant seems much more classic and a bit conservative, so if you are a fan of a slightly “youthful” look, then white is definitely for you. The white HTC Desire 601 is even a bit reminiscent of the more expensive models of this house. For those who like an even more dynamic and striking look, there is also a red version.

HTC didn’t experiment much with the keys. The fingers will have no problem reaching them. All in all, the HTC Desire 601 looks quite decent, it doesn’t give the impression of cheapness and fragility.

HTC Desire 601 screen

HTC Desire 601, in addition to compact dimensions, also has a screen that is just right. It is a 4.5-inch TFT screen, which is usually said to be neither too small nor too big. However, the impression of the screen is slightly spoiled by the resolution of 540 × 960 pixels, which, in principle, does not correspond to a phone of this range.

With 245 pixels per inch, the audience will not be thrilled, but what is, there it is. Fortunately, this does not call into question the readability of the content, but the pixelization is certainly noticeable. However, if you are not used to the best resolutions, then you should not have problems with this either. At the same time, the colors (which are a bit cooler) are not bad, nor is the visibility in the outside light.

HTC Desire 601 specification

This phone with an Android 4.2.2 operating system and the usual HTC Sense 5 interface (dominated by BlinkFeed), runs on a Snapdragon 400 processor with a working speed of 1.4GHz. There is also Adreno 305 graphics.

Without much fanfare, the Desire 601 works without much downtime, quite decently. This is partly because the phone has 1GB of RAM, while the internal memory has 8GB, but the user has only a little over 4GB. The problem of lack of “accommodation capacity” is solved with the help of a microSD slot, which allows a maximum of 64GB.

HTC Desire 601 camera

The HTC Desire 601 has a standard 5MP camera. Unlike the more expensive HTC One, which has a 4MP UltraPixel camera, it has more pixels here, but since the technology here is “classic”, the results are worse. The camera menu is not overly reviewed, but there are plenty of options.

The photos are relatively clean, but without a sense of detail. The colors are faithfully presented, but with more pronounced warmer shades. As expected, when you take photos at home, they get accentuated pixels, even next to the LED flash.

Videos are made in very good 1080p resolution at 27 frames per second. However, the reality is somewhat different, because the video does not look very good.

HTC Desire 601 conclusion

Equipped with a 2100mAh battery, the HTC Desire 601 offers a really decent life. According to official data, this 4G phone is able to provide 13 hours of talk time over the 3G network, while in standby mode it can take 18 days, which is still slightly less than the average.

When it all adds up and subtracts, the HTC Desire 601 is a decent phone. This phone does not have any special segment that can fascinate anyone. Prices are not too high for it, but there are alternatives, even within the same house, so you can also consider the HTC One Mini, or Desire 600, or Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Mini.
