Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Review

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has got a successor. And not one, but two! After a lot of announcements, rumors and wish lists, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge were presented in Barcelona. And the first thing that catches our eye is that Samsung has finally got rid of the ballast of bad design filled with plastic and turned to a combination of glass and metal. Also, Samsung is introducing two leading models for the first time, of which the one with the Edge label brings a curved screen. The two new S6s are identical. Both bring Android 5.0 Lillipop, 5.1-inch high-resolution screens, as befits high-end devices.

However, the changes also affected the phone segments that Samsung has been bragging about so far. However, with the application of the metal case, it was impossible to change the battery, as well as the microSD port. Also, there was no protection from water. Both models bring the option of wireless charging. In short, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge bring a look and quality worthy of admiration.

Both models stand out so much from all Samsung models that this event at which they were presented can be called the premiere in the true sense of the word. Plastic housings are now a thing of the past. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge have a distinctive shape with rounded top and bottom edges and flatter sides. The main button sits on the right side, where the nanoSIM port is located, which is located at the top of the Edge. Both models have a microSUB port and audio input on the bottom, while the volume keys are on the left.

The central button with a ring frame is located below the screen and “hangs out” with two capacitive ones, and there is also a sensor for reading fingerprints. At the top is an infrared transmitter for those who would like to have an additional remote control. On the background is a 16MP camera (identical to the one with the Note 4), which comes with an LED flash, which has a heart rate sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge specification
The Exynos 7420 is a processor made up of eight cores. Specifically, it is a tandem of two processors composed of four cores running at a total frequency of 3.6GHz (1.5GHz + 2.1GHz). That, combined with 3GB of RAM, would be enough to run as many as two phones in a decent way. Stored in one phone like this, you can think about the performance that the new S6 will offer. Also, due to the closing of the case, Samsung is “forced” to ask future customers to choose between versions with 32/64 / 128GB. Also, users will be able to count on an additional 115GB of online storage space.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge use a battery of 2,550mAh and 2,600mAh, respectively, which is less than the current Galaxy S5.

The 16MP camera is “borrowed” from the Note 4. The camera has optical stabilization, and there is also an automatic HDR mode that recognizes whether it is necessary to turn on HDR or not. The 5MP front camera takes selfies at a large angle, so the frame can accommodate more people.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will go on sale in April in global retail chains, but the prices are still something we will have to wait for. Given what these two models offer, it will certainly not be low. Still, the new S6 and its cousin with a curved screen leave enough room for us to dream about their capabilities.
